Interim Feedback and Ideas

Presented the user journeys for Sarah, Hemi and Barry who are all interested in independent Wellington news.

Functions applicable to all:

Sign in rather than log in
Integrate sign in/sign up to TDP or YDP sections on front page.
Make the The Dom Post or Your Dom Post split input focussed rather than just a link to the homepages - make the specific user intentions  (contribute or consume) easier to achieve at that first step - more functional!! More personal!

=> The Dom Post: Read the latest news from the world. Brought to you by Fairfax, MediaWorks, etc? Haiyan wants to read the official conservative news and Mike will want to critique what is being disseminated as official information. NZ is a "sporting nation" so sports info is pretty comprehensive with people already spending a lot of time writing and thinking about it so Andrea will be interested in what the professionals/experts have to say about games/teams/sportspeople. (As opposed to other lesser-talked-about subjects and media that will be better represented through YDP - images, radio, local, more positive news? Happenings, pride, events - link up with WellingtonNZ more?)

=> Your Dom Post: "Read" or "Contribute" (links) to Wellington's own independent news site.

How to switch from TDP to YDP easier - make a connection between the two - is the divide a bad thing or a good? Does it make people feel like they identify and connect/belong with one? Or does it prevent/deter them from connecting with both? Promote/facilitate this fluidity - the contrast/sharing of info from both sites - promote independent news as being on a level playing field with "official" news - less of a monopoly on news content esp. with the availability of information and the merging of NZ's media organisations.

Hemi:

"Play" rather than "Stream"?
Is there a faster way to get to "Latest audio"?
When audio is playing, where is it playing from? Can they do other things at the same time? Is it a pop-up? At the top? Accessible from the top of the page? Audio, radio homepage?
Is "like" the right function for articles? I guess not if it's a news website - what if it's a story about something sad..? Maybe "Shares" or "Comments" - importance, relevance for the audience - what is everybody else in Welly reading - what do I need to know?
On YDP home, how are Trending Discussions arranged/ordered? Number of shares, latest, number of comments?

Also, what categories of audio are there? If he saves them, where do they go?  Does he need a profile? Can he save them to listen offline?

Barry:

Group the links at the end of the article in a tab?

Is there a distinction between NZ and world politics? Sub-category? Same categories as TDP?

Sarah:

Where does she go next? View image/article.

Sections needed in YDP:

How do you want to consume your news? Media - written, audio, image gallery, videos? Who is uploading these kinds of media? Link up with Radio NZ, WellingtonNZ, Scoop.co.nz?
